There is also a 15 intelligence requirement to be able to buy spells from Logan. I was using a faith build anyway, but other players could be forced to invest a bigger amount on a skill they not really want. Normally you can lower the requirement by 5 if you help other players. Keep in mind you need 25 faith to be able to join. The only not so cool thing is the requirement to join the sunlight covenant. If you already played Dark Souls you probably can handle all boss fights alone. Now some stuff about the game itself: don't forget that you can't play online and can't summon other phantoms or helping other phantoms. Short version: It's still possible to complete this game (offline), but it's maybe important to do everything in the order posted above - sorry if my comment confuse you, but it will probably make sense if you are in the same situation. I switched over to Fallout 3, downloaded my gamertag, switched back to Dark Souls and could use it now.

After installing the client again and installing Dark Souls, i had the feeling the game got connected to GFWL software and the overlay appeared. To fix that i followed the step by step guide and uninstalled Dark Souls and GFWL. I had some GFWL software installed and using that lead me to the 80070005 error message. In that case you also have no overlay in Dark Souls and can't login with your gamertag.
You know something is not working fine, if you click on "live" in Fallout 3 and nothing happens. Here some information about the technical stuff: I used the download link and installed the client and i also installed DS and Fallout 3. So i was lucky and only had to renter Lodran via the crow nest. I have to say it was probably risky to not create backup saves of the game just in case some harder cheevos didn't synch. I started the synch with Fallout 3 after unlocking every achievement in DS and the only one that i had to redo was the Lordran one.

If you plan to complete this version, you need another GFWL game to download your gamertag (to be able to use it offline with Dark Souls) + to be able to go online and synch your achievements. Thanks for all the advice, especially Napathanes step by step solution worked great.

Using Windows 10 Fallout 3 opens the Client without any problems. TL DR: Bought an old Dark Souls disc for the achievements, can't use Steam version. One video was a guide about fixing this with some xlive.dll from SysWOW64 where he copy pasted the files into a "binaries"-folder for his Batman Arkham City to work, but no such folder exists for my Dark Souls problem.Īnyone got a similar problem and got it running? After that trying out Dark Souls again, just for it to show me another new error (couldn't find ordinal 5297), so tried repairing it to no avail, and after de- and re-installing it still doesn't open the client or letting me sign in. It also doesn't let me sign in at all to at least save my game.Īlready installed another client from my old Fallout 3 GFWL Disc and tried it out there, the client opened without any problem and it prompted me to put my Fallout CD key in there.

Tried everything in every possible way but the GFWL program still doesn't work.ĭark Souls PtD itself runs almost without problem in compatibility mode for windows 7 (instantly crashes in native windows 10 for me), only thing is I can't sign in because the client doesn't start with the game, and the LIVE option in the main menu doesn't work. I'm using Windows 10 and bought a Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition Disc version with the old Games for Windows LIVE banner on top (to get the achievements offline) but can't get it to launch the client for the life of me.
